One Bad Apple Spoils the Whole Bunch

Filed under: Technology — Cory @ 11:52 pm

This hurts my soul.

All kidding aside, it will be pretty awesome to be able to tri-boot Mac OS X, Linux and Windows on the same machine, and that machine being made by Apple.

This blog still looks like crap in IE after almost a year mainly because I don’t have easy access to a computer running Windows. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if IE didn’t go out of its way to avoid implementing standard CSS, but I digress.

Exciting times indeed.

  1. I’m not so sure about tri-booting…. I have a workstation here running Linux and XP that dual boot between for work (code under Linux) and play (XP because there’s *STILL* no ventrillo client for Linux and the occasional foray into Quickbooks). Even though I only have to reboot once a day (and sometimes can get away with only rebooting once a week), each time it becomes more and more annoying. I really, really like to play Call of Duty2, but if it means a reboot… feh, I’ll probably knock out some reading instead.

However. Having said all that, the cool thing about Apple’s move to the PC is that it should now be possible to emulate MacOSX on other OSs and build something similar to WINE for OSX apps. Emulating an operating system is relatively easy, but trying to emulate hardware can be a mess (as DEC demonstrated with their FX/32 stuff back in the day).

As for the CSS, don’t sweat it… everyone uses RSS aggregators these days, anyway. :)

  2. I completely agree about tri-booting, it’s definitely not something I would do very often. I can remember my dual-booting days and I would save up all the stuff I needed to do in Windows for a once-a-month reboot. I just think it would be cool to be *able* to do that when I need to.

You are right about RSS for the regular readers, but I also get a lot of hits from Google for people looking for the bands that I post about. Most of those tend to be IE, but you can see how much I’ve cared. ;)
